Why older sims?

E-mail Print PDF
Plenty of history yes, but also a living museum, the Flight Sim Museum features "case studies" on older sims ( between 2 and 10 years old ) which still have lots of playability today. The case studies include step by step instructions on: How to fly the sim, using the Virtual Cockpit, Air to Air, Carrier ops, Basic Controls... and lots more!

Many of the "older" sims still fly on someone's hard drive. They may have a particular atmosphere and ambience, or a particular aircraft or theatre - and they are inexpensive!. It is also worth digging up and even installing one of the older sims to learn skills that apply to newer sims.

Also, take advantage of the fact that when running 2-6 year old sim, a PC that barely sucks 10 fps out of the latest sims can give you the smooth frame rate ( 25 fps plus ) which you really need in order to clinch that Air to Air gun shot or Carrier landing.
